The Mitsubishi L200 Isn't Just a 4x4 Pickup

The Mitsubishi L200 is a great vehicle for lots of different purposes. What's clear when you first see this car is that it is obviously first and foremost a pickup truck, however where it differs is that the interior still delivers a car-like experience. The trim levels at Warrior and upwards give you a sturdy full leather interior that is both hard-wearing and easy to clean. Certain models also include inbuilt satellite navigation and more.

When it comes to off-roading the L200 is versatile and incorporates a low-range gearbox and a centre differential to give you adequate purchase on rough or muddy terrain. One thing it is missing however is a rear differential. This would keep both rear split axles linked together and give maximum grip, but it is unlikely you would be taking the vehicle that far off-road to need this facility.

The 4x4, which is reviewed on 'Best 4x4 Reviews' has a high riding height and gives an excellent commanding view of the road. It also has quite a lot of grunt with the 2.5 diesel engine, however the acceleration only really kicks in at the higher revs. Due to the rear leaf spring suspension it is also a little wallowy when going at speed around corners, however these are a real benefit if you regularly need to carry large loads in the pickup bay, as the leafsprings can absorb a huge amount of weight.

Overall this makes a great (if unconventional) car if you have dogs, as you can attach a canopy on the rear and you can keep your canine friends separately in the pickup bay, saving you from dog smells and it helps to minimise the noise from their barks!
